You may lack some enthusiasm in performing the trick. Usually you need to be lively and make your viewers involved by relating your magic into something that can make them laugh or smile. But of course don't forget the main goal but don't be too gentle in performing the magic so that your audience will not be bored.

In choosing magic trick to learn, you need to start with those things that are easy enough for starter like you. Learn the basic and do practice a lot to perfect a trick. Don't be in a hurry in learning things, and focus on one trick and perfect it first before proceeding to a new one.
